Year 8 Lifesaving

8th June 2021

Today, some of our Year 8 children had an exciting swimming lesson with Mrs Larkin. They were practising their lifesaving skills! To begin with, they tried jumping in and keeping their heads above the water, this is an important technique to ensure never lose sight of the person you are trying to rescue. They also practised swimming the length of the pool keeping their head above water and floating on their back for 30 seconds. The children were dressed in pyjamas to give them a sense of what is it like to swim with the added weight of clothing, they agreed this tired them out! They all swam brilliantly and demonstrated some excellent knowledge and skill in the pool.
